“Why Bolt Addiction? Why now? What's with the name?”
Fashion has always been my passion and I have lived by that mantra since the day I was born into a mini fashion empire. Okay, maybe not an empire (I wish), but my parents were very optimistic about their apparel ventures. My parents owned a network of clothing stores called “The Clothes Line.” I remember being about 2 or 3 years old and running around the stores and being completed “addicted” with pulling the clothes off hangers and attempting to try on anything and everything.
Fast forward a few years and my parents both decided to take on new and different endeavors and move in different directions. My Mom happens to be a very talented artist (still is) and her aspirations and ambitions led her to hand painting and splatter painting shirts and tops. Little did she know she was way ahead of her time with splatter painting.
My father started another apparel business called “HEAVEN”, a t-shirt and apparel wholesale and screen printing business. I, basically, spent all of my early childhood, teen and college years schlepping from different vendors, warehouses, stores to shows and street fairs. It was these behind the scenes and front of the house escapades where I learned everything about people, personalities, business, buying and, of course, fashion.
Growing up I dreamt of shopping at stores such as Marshall Fields to BCBG, but unfortunately, that was not in our family’s budget. Our budget forced me inadvertently to learn to be creative and fiercely savvy. I remember spending hours at night cultivating the perfect looks to display at school on our budget. My mission was (and is) to authentically create the designers looks for less. Feel like a million bucks without spending a million bucks, or a $100.
So this brings us to the present day where I still obsess over mixing the high-end with affordable chic fashion and creating this brainchild of mine Bolt Addiction. But before we move on, I'm going to share a little bit more about my personal life.
Being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in June of 2018 turned my life upside down, to say the least. The ups and downs of that experience taught me so many new life lessons, but the most important one is that life is too short to not follow your dreams, ambitions, and passions. My dreams drove me to create and bring Bolt Addiction to the masses. And Bolt Addiction was created from a similar brainwave as the 501(c)3 I started while fighting my fight with breast cancer. You can read more about that journey, if you choose, at www.badassbeth.org or Facebook.
So BAB (BadAss Beth) and Bolt Addiction obviously both have first words that start with “B” and then have second words that start with an “A”. But just so everyone understands the other meaning behind Bolt Addiction; in the industry fabric can be and is sold as “a bolt of fabric.” I think the “Addiction” part speaks for itself and my addiction to fashion.
Bolt Addiction will embody my mantra, my soul and my mission from years past. I’m creating and bringing all of the designer's looks for less while not only helping my clientele feel and look like a million bucks but leaving them “addicted” in sharing my passion for being savvy and stylish.
I can’t wait for all of you to feel and express yourself in Bolt Addiction’s stylish, easy and affordable apparel. As mentioned earlier, I have always dreamt of doing something with fashion and take my past experiences to create something that is entirely my own. And Bolt Addiction is and will be my third child so that my other two daughters will be empowered to work tirelessly and follow their dreams like their “BadAss” Mom.

"Eventually all the pieces fall into place. Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moment, and know that everything happens for a reason.”
